Joy Oche Named LPA Fellow
Palo Alto Forward (PAF) is proud to announce Joy Oche as our Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce Leadership Palo Alto (LPA) program Fellow for 2024, with a partial scholarship to the LPA program.
“We are so proud to have Joy as part of the movement for more housing in Palo Alto,” said Amie Ashton, Executive Director of Palo Alto Forward. “Like so many women locally, Joy is a dedicated professional, mother of two boys, and active volunteer within community organizations like the Rotary Club. We need to empower and amplify more voices like hers. The Chamber LPA program provides the opportunity to realize this goal and we are honored.”
Joy is a sustainability program manager at Amazon. She works to advance green and profitable initiatives through effective stakeholder engagement within cross-functional teams. Joy was previously a member of the City of Palo Alto’s Parks and Recreation Commission.
Joy was chosen by PAF because she believes, “housing across all income levels is integral to creating a balanced, inclusive, and thriving community in Palo Alto. This diversity enriches the community culturally, socially, and economically.” She looks to her leadership mentor, John C. Maxwell, who said that a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is a success.
According to Joy, “Housing is more than a physical structure; it is essential for stability, health, and the opportunity to thrive in various aspects of life.”
The Chamber of Commerce’s LPA program is a 10-week immersive experience providing an in-depth understanding of the full spectrum of issues facing Palo Alto – including our local and regional challenges, opportunities, and trends; while considering Palo Alto’s influence beyond our community. The program brings world-class experts to inform and work interactively with participants. Whether in their professional lives or as engaged members of local government, LPA participants are poised to have an impact locally and beyond our community.
Well done Joy! We cannot wait to see you succeed in the LPA program.
