We’re Hiring

Are you passionate about bringing local advocates together to solve the housing crisis in Silicon Valley? So are we. We seek an experienced community builder/organizer to help us build the housing movement locally.

This is a 4-month contract for approximately 10 hours per week paying between $25 and $35 per hour (the term, hours, and pay will depend on experience). The community builder will manage field and volunteer operations, including:

  • Coordinate and facilitate zoom and in-person meetings with our volunteers, supporters, donors, board members, and partners. Ideal candidates would be comfortable with NationBuilder, Eventbrite, Zoom, Google calendar, and Google docs.

  • Develop our engagement ladder in coordination with our Executive Director (subscriber, paying member, active volunteer, etc.). Coordinate and execute volunteer activities and events for folks wanting to get involved. Manage our people data in NationBuilder.

  • Assist with responses to email and social media messages. Respond to emails from members asking how they can be more involved and from renters asking for information about their rights and to be connected with service providers. We want to point people in the right direction however we can. Good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude are essential to this role.

  • Assist with monthly educational and social events, including canvassing for volunteers to assist with the event. This can include arranging details for the meeting, preparing materials, and promoting the event on-line, in the media, and hanging flyers.

  • In coordination with the Executive Director, prepare agendas for and help facilitate the monthly member meeting (on Zoom).

Must have the following past experience:

  • At least one organizing or volunteer management position, as a volunteer or otherwise.

  • Field experience with promotional activities in the non-profit or for profit sphere. Ideally this includes tabling, canvassing, presenting to groups, or other campaign experience.

  • Experience with Squarespace and NationBuilder or similar web and people-management software, or a willingness to learn.
