Welcome to our fourth edition of “Council Corner”. This time, we’re going to take a look at major council action on housing and transportation issues from March.
North Ventura Coordinated Area Plan (NVCAP)
On March 11th, the council met to discuss the progress on the North Ventura Coordinated Area Plan. After some discussion, the council unanimously passed a motion to update the project direction to focus on a larger inclusionary housing component and the inclusion of workforce housing in the planning. There was also a direction to evaluate the delta between current zoning and the zoning that would fall out of the NVCAP in terms of the economic benefits it would convey to landowners.
The council met on March 18th to continue its discussion of grade separation alternatives. At the meeting, no alternatives were eliminated and the process for completion was extended to October 2019. The staff was directed, by unanimous motion, to develop more models and analysis to help the council select the prefered alternative.
